Merrick Preparatory School is conveniently located near Canada's capital city, Ottawa, which gives our students the opportunity to experience some of the world's best museums. With seven of Canada's nine national museums located in Ottawa, our students have access to a wealth of knowledge and culture.
Yesterday, our grade 10 students had the chance to visit the Canadian War Museum (CWM) - one of Ottawa’s most popular tourist destinations and one of the world's most respected institutions of its kind for the study and understanding of armed conflict. The museum’s collections are among the finest military holdings in the world, including rare vehicles, artillery, uniforms, medals, personal memoirs and 14,000 works in the Beaverbrook Collection of War Art. In total, the collection comprises more than 3 million artifacts, specimens, works of art, written documents and sound and visual recordings.
What a great opportunity for our students to get up close and personal with some of the most significant artifacts from Canada's past and to learn about defining moments in Canada’s military history and the ways in which past events have shaped the nation.
